Joula

Joula is a mobile application that helps people who are studying languages on their own to make their own study plans. It helps them create clear goals and habits and has sections explaining what resources they can use and how to use them to learn a language effectively.

Process

First of all I tried to understand the frustrations, motivations and habits of people who learn languages on their own in order to discover what kind of tools they need to facilitate their process and what features they should have.

Based on the research we created different user profiles to which we would target the application.

After this initial  research, a benchmark was made, an analysis of the users and the main features for the MVP were defined.

Then we proceeded to the ideation part where with the help of the users (through a CardSorting) we defined the organization and prioritization of the different features within the application.

Once we knew what elements the application should have and how they should be organized, we proceeded to combine this information with the appropriate processes to learn a language indicated by polyglots, and created a User-Flow that would be the foundation for the user's experience within the platform.

With this User-flow, and the information architecture, we began to design the Wireframes of the platform, which were tested with users at different stages and evolved to the final prototype.

The objective was to create the best experience for the users. We also based a lot of the design on the Android Material design in order to make this app easy to use in android.
